Independent Brewing Company is proud to partner with the talented Chef Rafael Vencio for the first of a series of Kanto Pop-Ups!

Kanto means corner - a place where two streets meet. Kanto pop-ups are a reflection of Rafael's life as a Filipino immigrant and navigating American culture through food, utilizing local ingredients and supplementing them with uncommon and delicious ingredients from Pittsburgh’s Asian markets.

Rafael was the chef of Aubergine Bistro, formerly in Smallman Galley in the Strip. He was born and raised in the Philippines and immigrated to the U.S when he was 19. His long-time passion for food has driven his career and involvement in the restaurant industry. Recently, we have come to enjoy his company and talents as he has worked with our very own Chef Jamilka Borges here at the IBC. 

We hope you join us at the Independent Brewing Company for an afternoon of good friends, good tunes and of course good food.
